People who wanted to raise taxes and destroy traditional values.

Working class in the 1980s were facing job loss and loss of wages. Liberals were portrayed as the group that wanted to raise taxes to help the poor. Liberals also wanted to help everyone but the working class white man creating anger and resentment toward liberals.
