one or more contrasting themes. These themes are generally called
"episodes", but are also occasionally referred to as
"digressions" or "couplets". Rondo form can have a pattern ABA,
ABACA, or ABACABA. The second movement of Haydn's “Military symphony” (known
also as Sonata No. 100) is in rondo form with pattern A-B-A (recapitulation of the first theme).
