In reality they where contemplating the existence of God because of the short
comings of there philosophies. This is because they believed that philosophies can explain everything that God created in this word. In the Middle Ages, the pope was very powerful at that time in regards with the Christian dogma. He can make a difference on the explanation that philosophers think. This made some philosophers get mad because they think that it is not right that the pope has all the power in the country.
