Before the invention of the printing press information had to be written by people who specialized in writing and copying called "scribes," because the process that scribes went through was very time consuming (proofreading, writing etc) the Printing press helped cut back on time and it helped information spread quickly. The printing press made it possible for to books become more available for the common people, education was more available.
