Explain why a magnet sitting next to a wire does not induce a current in a wire

When a conductor is put at right angle with magnetic field and the conductor is moved maintaining the right angle between itself , the magnetic field and the direction of motion then current is induced in the conductor, then Flemming's right hand rule is used to determine the direction of flow of current. Therefore a magnet sitting next to a wire does not induce current unless the above conditions are met
