The width of a rectangle is 1 foot less than the length. The area is 2 feet^2. Find the length and width.

A=LW
Fill in: 2=(W+1)·W 
L=W+1
multiply out: 2=W²+1
Subtract: 1=w²
find the square root: √1=√W² ≈1=w
Sub that in: 2=(1+1)·1
Solve: 2=2·1 ≈ 2=2
L=2ft
