Because it's closest to the Sun. The side that Sun shines on is very hot and the side in shadows is very cold. Dont know the temps from top of my head

Answer: There are a 2 reasons:D
1) It is very close to the sun
2) It has no atmosphere to trap the heat as the heat will escape into the solar system at night.
