Those two groups of people are Native Fijians and South Asian Fijians
The unrest began after the development of sugar industry in Fiji. Due to the demand of labors, The Fiji took the step to invite a lot of South Asian as workers. But as these two group of people collided together, a lot of conflicts started to arise and ended up in the unrest.
