First, you would want to make -3 3/8 an improper fraction. To do that you would multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add that number to the numerator. That would make the improper fraction -27/7. You would then subtract 7/8 from -27/8 which would make the answer -34/8. Then simplifying it you would get -4 1/4.
