The perimeter of a rectangle is 20xm. the length is 6cm longer than the width. what are the length and width of the rectangle?

Let width be x 

length= 6+x 

p=2(l+w) 
20=2(6+x+x) 
10=2x+6 
10-6=2x 
4=2x 
x=4/2
x=2 

Therefore the width is 2 cm and length is (6+2)= 8 cm
