Solve 6+v/-8=4/7? How do I get the solution?

solving for v: 

6 + v/-8 = 4/7

multiply the equation by -8: 

6(-8) + v = 4(-8)/7
v = -32/7 + 48
   = 304/7 or 43.43 (2d.p.)
