2x=5-y
3y=1-2x

take the first equation and get y
2x=5-y
y=5-2x

plug y into second equation

3y=1-2x, where y=5-2x
3*(5-2x)=1-2x
15-6x=1-2x
-4x=-14
x=3.5

plug x into y=5-2x
y=5-2x
y=5-2*3.5=5-7=-2

and there you have it. x=3.5 and y=-2
2x=5-y
2x+y=5, or 3y+6x=15

3y=1-2x
3y+2x=1

3y+6x=15
