Toby has a round tablecloth. According to its package, it has a circumference of 12.56 meters. What is the tablecloth's area?

To find the area (a) of the circle, first let's find the radius (r) 

Since we know that the equation to find the circumference of the circle using the radius is r · 2 · π, we can divide the circumference by π (for this equation, we'll shorten it to 3.14) 

12.56/3.14 = 4
Now divide by two,
4/2 = 2
r = 2

Now that we know the radius, we need to use this equation to find the area. 

a = π · r²
a = π · 2²
a = π · 4
a = 12.57
