take 16 to RHS and then divide by 8 and the result wil 4 .. now take square root.finally you will have 2( positive..negative)

8x^2+16-16=48-16
8x^2=32
8/8x^2=32/8
x^2=4
square root of x^2=square root of 4
x=2
The value of x is 2
