What is the answer to this equation because I can't figure it out.

Rearranging the question gets us to 8y+4y+8+4=36. Combine like terms to get 12y+12=36. Subtract 12 from 36 to get 12y=24. Divide 24 by 12 and get y=2. The answer is y=2.
