Sydney says that 4/8 is closer to 0 than to 1. Is she correct?Why?

Yes, she is correct. This is because 1 is one whole number away from 0, whereas 4/8 is only 4/8, or 1/2, away from 0, and you can write 1/2 as 0.5, proving that 0.5 < 1 and 4/8 must be closer. I hope this helps! I explained it a bit weirdly so let me know if you would like me to explain it more :)
