John Wycliffe was excommunicated from the Catholic Church for his views and this made him an early thinker in the Protestant movement. John Hus (Jan Hus, or John Huss) made similar points to Wycliffe and was executed. Both men’s writings were important in the forming of the Protestant Reformation.
