As the oak populations decrease, the herbivorous consumers that have their habitats on them will start to become extinct as they are introduced to an environment that they are not used to and unprepared to survive in. As oaks keep forests healthy by maintaining a richer mix of plants, insects, birds and other animals wherever they grow. They are a source of food and habitat which adds emphasis to their importance to wildlife.
