the slope is (change in y)/(change in x) or rise/run

if given 2 points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)
the slope is (y2-1y)/(x2-x1) or (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

basically the slope is the rate of change, for some units it goes to the right, it goes up some more units
