4x − 3y = 3
5x − 4y = 3

We multiply both equations by a constant term so that when we subtract the equations, the y values cancel out:

4(4x - 3y = 3)
3(5x - 4y = 3)

16x - 12y = 12
15x -12y = 9; subtracting the second equation from the first:

x = 3
