If water itself does not conduct electricity, then why is it dangerous to be in water during a
thunderstorm OR use electricity in a bathtub?

It’s a chemical reaction I guess? Or maybe it hits the water and unlike a solid and it being a liquid it goes into the water causing it to spread or something like that.

Electricity can flow through water (so don't swim with a toaster plugged in or at all)
