real = 2         imaginary =  6i

there's only two terms in the expression.

i is an imaginary number - it's not on the number line and it never will be; which means any TERM with i in it, is imaginary. 6i is one term so the entire term is imaginary since 6i will never be on the number line.

2 is on the number line which means it's a real number.
