How to use slope to determine parallel and perpendicular lines?

The slope of parallel lines are the same and the slope of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocal

example: parallel, slope line 1: 2   slope line 2: 2
               perpendicular, slope line 1: 2  slope line 2: -1/2
