Reaction between sodium hydroxide and nitric acid is a textbook example of acid base neutralisation.Sodium ions combine with nitrate ions to form sodium nitrite and hydrogen ions react with hydroxide ions to form water.Equation:NaOH + HNO3 --> NaNO3 + H2O
