A sofa and a love seat together costs $ 444. The sofa costs double the love seat. How much do they each cost?

Answer:

Let cost of sofa=x

and cost of love seat=y

x+y=444

x=2y

2y+y=444

3y=444

y=444/3

y=148

x=2y= 2*148= 296

Cost of sofa=$296

Cost of love seat=$148
