5y - [tex] \frac{3}{5} [/tex] = [tex] \frac{4}{5} [/tex]   Add [tex] \frac{3}{5} [/tex] to both sides
5y = [tex] \frac{7}{5} [/tex]   Divide both sides by 5 ([tex] \frac{7}{5} [/tex] x [tex] \frac{5}{1} [/tex])
y = 
[tex] \frac{35}{5} [/tex]   Simplify
y = 7
