To solve for b, you need to isolate/get the variable "b" by itself in the equation:

A = h(a + b)       Divide h on both sides

[tex]\frac{A}{h}=\frac{h(a +b)}{h}[/tex]

[tex]\frac{A}{h} =a + b[/tex]      Subtract a on both sides to get "b" by itself

[tex]\frac{A}{h}-a=a-a+b[/tex]

[tex]\frac{A}{h} -a=b[/tex]
