Which describes the basic structure of a fatty acid

A fatty acid is a carboxylic acid with a long aliphatic chain. It can be saturated or unsaturated. In order to describe correctly the fatty acid, the length of the carbon chain should be given, the number of double bonds and the exact position of the double bonds.
