Well if you see the graph (-5, -5) is a total negative number that is in the 3 quadrant.

As for (-9,2) it goes to negative to positive.

(-9,2) is in he second quadrant which is (-x,y) and (-5,-5) is (-x,-y) and it is in the third quadrant. Hope this helps!
