This is how we build the fraction representing the periodic number:

  1. Subtract the non-periodic digits from the whole number, without comma: [tex]24361-243=24118[/tex]. This is our numerator.
  2. Write a 9 for every periodic digit, and a 0 for every non periodic digits. we have 5 decimal digits, 3 non-periodic and 2 periodic. So, our denominator is 99000.

So, our fraction is

[tex]\dfrac{24118}{99000}[/tex]

Which can be reduced by dividing both numerator and denominator by 2:

[tex]\dfrac{12059}{49500}[/tex]
