The explicit formula for the nth term of an arithmetic sequence:

[tex]a_n=a_1+(n-1)d[/tex]

d - common difference

Create an arithmetic sequence:

[tex]a_1=1\\\\a_2=1+2=3\\\\a_3=3+2=5\\\\a_4=5+2=7\\\\a_5=7+2=9\\\\1,\ 3,\ 5,\ 7,\ 9[/tex]

[tex]a_1=1,\ d=2[/tex]

Substitute:

[tex]a_n=1+(n-1)(2)=1+2n-2=2n-1[/tex]

Answer: [tex]\boxed{a_n=2n-1}[/tex]
