x = [tex]\frac{14}{3}[/tex]

distribute parenthesis on left side and simplify

4x + 8x - 24 = 4 + 6x

12x - 24 = 4 + 6x ( subtract 6x from both sides )

6x - 24 = 4 ( add 24 to both sides )

6x = 28 ( divide both sides by 6 )

x = [tex]\frac{28}{6}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{14}{3}[/tex]
