Let his age be X

Writing the information out in an equation you would have:

3 times his age minus 8 would be 100

3X-8 = 100

Now we can solve for X

Add 8 to each side:
3x = 108

Divide both sides by 3

X = 108 /3
X = 36

 His age is 36
