Assuming x and y are the two numbers,
[tex]x + y = 2 \\ x \times y = - 15[/tex]

[tex]x + y = 2 \\ x = 2 - y[/tex]

Substitute that into
[tex](2 - y) \times y = - 15 \\ 2y - {y}^{2} = - 15 \\ {y}^{2} - 2y - 15 = 0 \\ (y - 5)(y + 3) = 0 \\ y = 5[/tex]

Substitute that into
[tex]x = 2 - 5 \\ x = - 3[/tex]

Answer : The two numbers are 5 and - 3.

Hope this helps. - M
