Alphabet is easier to use because there are only 26 letters in the English alphabet. The Chinese language does not have alphabet, it has characters. There are over 50,000 characters in the Chinese language. However in order to read a Chinese newspaper, it is believed that knowledge of 3,000 characters is sufficient.
