Greetings!

Simplify the Expression.
[tex]=(1-5q)+2(2.5q+8)[/tex]

Distribute the Parenthesis.
How? Multiply the terms inside the Parenthesis by the term outside of the Parenthesis.
[tex]=1*1-1*5q+2*2.5q+2*8[/tex]

Combine Like Terms.
[tex]=1-5q+5q+16[/tex]

[tex]=17[/tex]

The Answer Is:
[tex] \left[\begin{array}{ccc}17\end{array}\right] [/tex]

Hope this helps.
