The economy was mostly based on farming, but other occupations were fur trapping, lumbering, shipping, slave trading, and iron mining. Once again, they were mostly based on farming though.
The Middle Colonies had temperate climate with cold winters and warm summers, this climate was ideal for agriculture and because of that, the major occupation in the middle colonies was farming, they planted barley, wheat, oats and rye.
