 Creon's edict was that the Polynices' were not to be buried and therefore will wander rather than to enter the realm of Hades (paradise). Thus the law made was of spite. When Antigone poured dirt over her brother's body, she was killed. Creon's son loved her and when he found out, he died. 

Creon lost his son, who lost his love.
