The distance formula is an easy way to find it.
d=[tex] \sqrt{ (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2} [/tex]

So plug in your points.
[tex] \sqrt{(4-1)^2 +(8-2)^2} [/tex]

Simplify
[tex] \sqrt{9+36} [/tex]
[tex] \sqrt{45} [/tex]
