x + 2y = -9
2x - y = -13

2x + 4y = -18
2x - y = -13
(subtract)
5y = -5
÷ 5
y = -1

x + (2 × -1) = -9
x + -2 = -9
x - 2 = -9
+ 2
x = -7

I hope this helps!
