Element X is a radioactive isotope such that every 9 years, its mass decreases by half. Given that the initial mass of a sample of Element X is 9300 grams, how much of the element would remain after 3 years, to the nearest whole number?

Answer:

After 3 years the mass will decrease by

(0.5*3/9) *9300 = 1550 grams

Then it will be 9300 - 1550 =7750 grams
