Here is the answer of the question given above. Marquis de Lafayette was major-general in the Continental Army who served under George Washington during the American Revolution. During the Battle of Brandywine, he still managed to make a successful retreat even though he was wounded. In the middle of the war he returned to France to negotiate an increase in French support.
