—-First, multiply 5*8

40 + -2y=30
-2y+40=30
——Subtract 40 on both sides..the 40’s will cancel out and 30-40=-10

-2y=-10
——Divide -2 on both sides.. the 2’s will cancel out and -10 divided by -2 = 5
