Jin Wang is the one who experiences a character arc over the course of the play. In American Born Chinese Jin Wang suffers an internal conflict because he struggles to accept his cultural identity, he is an insecure teenager about how he looks and how he acts. Jin sounds like an American child but still looks like a Chinese child.
